Just like any other 26 year old, most of my news come from my Facebook newsfeed or other Social media channel. I hardly watch the news on TV or head to news sites to check out what’s happening in the world.
It’s Tuesday today and I just found out about the earthquakes in Japan, Myanmar and Ecuador. And that utterly scared the life out of me. I thought to myself “How can I not have seen or heard about this? I’m usually so updated with what is happening around the world””I’m always the first to know” And then I stopped and realise, it’s because I have yet to see it on my feed!
How insane is that, thinking about it now. Facebook basically can “control” what you should or should not see, if something big happens and you live your daily lives with other ignorant people, you’ll never know. Just as an example, this is what is on my feed instead of the hundreds of people dead from the earthquake.
I am pissed off. At myself mostly and society, how can we live like this? How can we think that it’s normal to get news and the worst part is to EXPECT getting all the information from Facebook. Maybe it might just be me or this generation that we are now. But we need to change, this has to stop. We can’t expect to get the news from the Facebook or Instagram.
I will find a solution to this problem..
